Acne is anextremely complex disease that affects over 50% of teenagers and 5% of adults. The first signs of acne occur with puberty, even at 11-12 years, with a peak at the age of 16-17 years.
Acne-prone areas are the ones that possess the sebaceous glands: face, chest, shoulders, back, arms, thighs. In the appearance of acne are involved genetic factors (number, size and subsequent activity of the sebaceous glands is inherited) and neuroendocrine factors (the activity of the sebaceous glands is affected by androgen hormones, secreted by the adrenal gland and gonads (ovary and testis).
At puberty, the sebaceous glands are overactive due to hormonal changes in the body. The pores close and held the resident microbial changes: Propionibacterium acnes-Organics (in deep part of the hair follicle), Staphylococcus-aerobically (in the distal of the hair follicle) and Pitirosporum-levura. It appears such as inflammation, purulent pimples or red nodules.
